NeoChat 26.04.0, released by KDE e.V. as the twentieth consecutive update of its Matrix client line, is an open-source instant-messaging application designed to give individuals, project teams and communities a secure, standards-based alternative to proprietary chat services. Built around the decentralized Matrix protocol, the program lets users exchange end-to-end-encrypted text, high-resolution images, short videos and voice recordings across homeservers while remaining independent of any single provider.
